Kinumpirma ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara nitong Martes, Setyembre 10, na mahigit 50 porsiyento ng mga nakatenggang ICT equipment sa warehouse ng logistic provider ng ahensya ang nakuha na upang ipamahagi sa iba’t ibang paaralan sa bansa.
Sa ginanap na deliberasyon ng panukalang 2025 budget ng DepEd, sinabi ni Angara na humingi na ito ng tulong mula sa Philippine Air Force, gayundin sa iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno at pribadong indibidwal upang mailabas ang mga gamit sa warehouse ng Transpac Logistics.
“With respect to the IT packages, I think over 50% have been removed from the warehouse. With respect to the other items which are bigger, the furniture, I think we’re only at 10%. But those are the more challenging things,” pahayag ni Sec. Angara sa House panel.
“Sabi nga nila, ‘yung IT equipment has a lifespan and we might be exceeding that lifespan if we don’t act quickly on it,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Naunang ibinunyag ng DepEd chief na nasa 1.5 milyong unit ng mga laptop, libro, at iba pang kagamitan ang nakaimbak sa loob ng apat na taon sa bodega ng logistics provider ng Kagawaran.
Ipinaliwanag ni Angara na nagsimula ang isyung ito noong termino ni dating Education Secretary Leonor Briones noong 2020 at 2021, nang kontratahin ng DepEd ang mga serbisyo ng isang logistics provider na iba sa supplier.
“And given that we’re going to engage in early procurement activities, they also have to take care of the warehousing and the delivery in such a way that we provide…enough time for them to deliver come the first day of school in 2025 but also to also manage their time for the deliveries,” pahayag ni Angara.
