Inianunsiyo ng Malacañang ngayong Martes, Hulyo 2, na si Senator Sonny Angara ang itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. bilang kapalit ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa posisyon ng kalihim ng Department of Education (DepEd).
Magsisimulang magsilbi si Angara sa DepEd sa Hulyo 19, 2024, na huling araw din ng panunungkulan ni Duterte sa ahensiya.
Bunsod nito, pinasalamatan ni Angara si PBBM sa pagtatalaga sa kanya sa DepEd, sinabing itataguyod ang mga magagandang programa ni Duterte.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the trust he has placed in me by appointing me as the Secretary of the Department of Education. This significant responsibility is one I accept with humility and a profound sense of duty.
