Pinayuhan ni Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Att. Vigor Mendoza II ang mga motorista na balewalain ang mga text messages tungkol sa traffic violation na kanilang natatanggap mula sa mga kadudadudang sources upang hindi mabiktima ng scamming.
“We are continuously receiving reports of these scams and that’s why we are advising all our clients to ignore these messages in order to protect yourselves from online scammers,” sabi ni Mendoza.
Sinabi ni Mendoza na ang lahat ng ito ay bahagi ng online scam kung saan ninanakaw ang personal na impormasyon ng mga motorista tulad ng bank at e-wallet details upang makunan sila ng salapi.
“Once again, we would like to remind the public that the LTO does not send any traffic violations through text messages or through any messaging app. If you receive one, that means it came from scammers,” dagdag niya.
Kapag nai-click ng biktima ang message mula sa scammers, idi-direkta ang user sa isang bogus na LTO site kung saan oobligahin siyang isiwalat ang license plate number ng kanyang sasakyan at iba pang impormasyon tungkol sa vehicle owner.
“Do not ever type in the license plates of your motor vehicles and give other personal information about your bank or e-wallets accounts. Better yet, ignore all of them because they are certainly scams,” babala ni Mendoza.
