Plano ng Conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) na maglaan ng ₱50 bilyon sa pagsusulong ng integration ng Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) at Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) systems.
“The purpose is to operate MRT-3 and LRT-1 in an integrated manner. So that was the motivation for us, so we submitted a proposal,” pahayag ni MPIC non-executive director at CEO Jose Ma. Lim.
Sinabi ni Lim na ang panukala ay nahahati sa dalawang bahagi, kung saan ang mga kinakailangan sa capital expenditure para sa unang bahagi ay nasa P50 bilyon.
“And we will of course take over the Dalian trains, the MRT trains, and add I think the 77 light rail vehicles (LRVs), the train sets. So, we’re waiting for the PPP to tell us whether the proposal is complete or not,” ani Lim.
Ang MPIC ang may hawak ng majority stake sa Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), na operator ng LRT-1.
Ang LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 ay on track sa itinakdang commercial opening nito sa huling bahagi ng 2024.
