Nagbabala ang PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group laban sa pagtaas ng reported incidents ng online selling scam na umabot sa 165 simula Abril 1 hanggang 20 ngayong taon na umabot sa 165 cases.
Ayon kay Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia, director ng PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, na tumaas ang mga insidente ng online selling scam na ini-report sa kanilang tanggapan ngayong buwan ng Abril – first week – 47 cases, second week – 55 cases, at third week – 63 cases.
“People diverted to online shopping instead of going to the mall. The rise in e-commerce and online platforms provides scammers with more opportunities to perpetrate their schemes,” sabi ni Hernia.
Bumibiktima ang mga online selling scammers sa pamamagitan ng pagpanggap bilang mga “legitimate sellers” na nag-a-advertise ng kanilang produkto online at nagaalok ng malalaking diskuwento upang makaakit ng mga buyers.
Ngunit ang kinalaunan ay inferior quality ang produktong tatambad sa buyer kapag ito ay na-deliver na, o kaya’y walang darating na product matapos mabiktima ng scammer.
“Beware of deals that seem too good to be true. Do not pay unless you verify the accuracy of the items you purchased. Always take your time and consider every decision carefully, ensuring confidence in your choices,” paalala ng PNP-ACG.
