Anim na sundalo at dalawang miyembro ng Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group ang patay habang apat na iba ang sugatan sa sagupaan ng dalawang grupo sa Barangay Ramain, Munai, Lanao del Norte, nitong Linggo, Pebrero 18.
“An operation was launched last February 18, resulting to two more dead among the enemy and several others wounded based on intelligence information,” sabi ni AFP chief Gen. Felix Brawner Jr.
Base sa intelligence information, sinabi ni Brawner na may malaking bilang din na sugatan sa hanay ng mga terorista. Ang mga sundalong nakasagupa ay pawang mga miyembro ng 44th Infantry Battalion, ayon sa report.
Sinabi rin ng militar na ang naganap na bakbakan sa Barangay Ramain ay resulta ng pinaigting na operasyon laban sa mga puwersa ng Dawlah Islamiyah na kumikilos sa Lanao del Norte at Lanao del Sur.
“I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of our slain soldiers and offer the AFP’s support in this very trying time. I will also make sure that our wounded soldiers receive the best treatment possible for their injuries,” pahayag ng AFP chief.
“Our troops are motivated to finish the job and accomplish our mission of defeating local terrorist groups once and for all,” dagdag niya.
