Naniniwala na aabot sa P1.5 bilyon ang ikinalugi ng Siyudad ng Iloilo sa malawakang power outage na naranasan hindi lamang sa kanilang lugar ngunit maging sa buong Panay Island at karatig lalawigan nito
“For the three days that we are going to suffer these brownouts due to the incompetence of NGCP, Iloilo City is going to lose ₱1.5 billion,” pahayag ni Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Sa panayam sa programang “The Source” ng CNN Philippines, sinisi ni Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas ang umano’y kapalpakan sa serbisyo ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NCGP) sa malawakang power outage.
Ayon sa alkalde, ilang mga establisimiyento, government offices at mga eskuwelahan ang nananatiling sarado simula pa noong Enero 2 dahil sa mahabang brownout na nararanasan sa kanilang lugar.
“The multiple trippings of the power plants in Iloilo were caused by the unstable transmission lines of the NGCP coming from Negros to Panay. It should be noted that under the conditions that NGCP has agreed, these transmission lines would have been developed and improved a long time ago,” giit ni Treñas.
Sinabon ni Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara ang pamunuan ng NGCP bunsod ng malawakang power outage na naranasan nitong nakalipas na tatlong araw.
“NGCP is in a position to anticipate system disturbance such as what happened yesterday, which unfortunately resulted in the isolation of Panay from the rest of the Visayas grid due to the simultaneous tripping of power plants that caused multiple power interruption affecting the other power plants and distribution utilities,” ani Guevara.
Sa isang kalatas na inilabas nitong Miyerkules, Enero 3, pinaalalahanan ng DOE ang NGCP sa responsibilidad nito bilang system operator sa paghahatid ng sapat na supply ng kuryente sa mga consumers.
Ayon pa kay Guevera, dapat na nagsilbing leksiyon sa NGCP ang nangyaring massive power blackout sa Panay at Negros Sub-grids noong Abril 2023 kung saan nakaranas ang mga residente ng mahabang oras ng power outages na posibleng naiwasan kung agad na naresolba ng power transmission company ang mga isyu.
