Ikinairita ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes nang tangkain ng ilang pasaway na motorista na takasan ang mga traffic enforcers na nanghuhuli ng mga violators ng exclusive EDSA busway policy.
“For violators who run away from traffic enforcers to avoid apprehension, if you think that you were able to get away with it, your plate numbers will be recorded and reported to the LTO. You will automatically receive a penalty for third offense: P20,000 plus a one-year suspension of your driver’s license,” Artes warned drivers and riders,” sinabi ni Artes.
Kabilang sa mga nagtangkang tumakas sa apprehension ng pinagsanib na puwersa MMDA, Highway Patrol Group (HPG), at Land Transportation Office (LTO), ay mga aktibong pulis at military, government officials at iba pang VIPs.
Sinabi naman ni Col. Bong Nebrija , MMDA Task Force on Special Operations chief, na isusumite nila ang pangalan ng mga pulis na lumabag sa exclusive EDSA bus lane policy sa tanggapan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) para sa pagpapataw na administrative penalties sa kanilang pag-abuso sa kapangyarihan sa paglabag sa traffic laws
“In support of the MMDA, we shall penalize the escaping violators by placing their vehicles on alarm,” sinabi rin ni LTO chief Vigor Mendoza.
Sa unang araw ng pagpapatupad ng penalty increase sa mga violators ng exclusive EDSA bus lane, umabot sa 333 ang bilang ng mga sasakyang nahuli ng mga traffic enforcers ngayong Lunes, Nobyembre 13.
