Muling nakatikim ng pambu-bully mula sa Chinese military vessels ang mga resupply boat ng Philippine Coast Guard at PCG escort ships nito sa Ayungin Shoal ngayon araw, Setyembre 8.
Ito ang inihayag ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. na siya ring nagsabi na agad na bumalik sa Palawan ang dalawang resupply boats matapos maghatid ng mga pagkain at iba pang gamit sa BRP Sierra Madre na nakabalandra sa Ayungin Shoal dakong ala-10:30 kaninang umaga.
Sinabi sa ulat na dalawang PCG vessels – BRP Cabra at BRP Sindangan – ang umalalay sa resupply boats habang naglalayag patungo sa Ayungin Shoal.
“The routine RoRe (Routine Resupply) mission was again subjected to dangerous maneuvers by four China Coast Guard ships and four Chinese Maritime Militia, jeopardizing the crew members’ safety aboard the PCG vessels and Philippine supply boats,” ayon naman sa ulat ng Commodore Jay Tarriela, tagapagsalita ng PCG-West Philippine Sea.
“Despite the challenging circumstances brought about by the illegal presence and activities of the CCG and CMM in our exclusive economic zone, the mission was carried out successfully. The much-needed supplies were delivered to our dedicated troops aboard the BRP Sierra Madre,” dagdag ni Tarriela.
Ito na ang ikatlong resupply mission na naisagawa ng PCG matapos ang naganap na pambobomba ng tubig at pagharang ng Chinese Coast Guard sa mga resupply boats ng una na habang patungo sa BRP Sierra Madre para mag-deliver ng pagkain, tubig at iba pang gamit sa mga sundalo ng Philippine Marines na nagmamando ng ibinalahurang barko.
Bagamat deklaradong decommissioned vessel na dahil sa kalumaan, ang BRP Sierra Madre ay itinuturing na simbolo ng soberenya ng Pilipinas para markahan ang teritoryo nito sa West Philippine Sea na inaangkin din ng China.
