Ipinagkaloob ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) sa Paris 2024 Olympics double gold medalist gymnast na si Carlos Yulo ang dalawang bahay at lupa, habang ang bronze medalist boxers na sina Nesthy Petecio at Aira Villegas ay malapit nang tumanggap ng kanilang mga bagong bungalow sa Tagaytay City.
“It’s now a tradition, first Hidilyn Diaz deserved all the best for giving the country its first Olympic gold medal. And now, it’s the turn of Caloy (Yulo), Nesthy (Petecio) and Aira (Villegas) to be feted with the same reward for their historic efforts,” sabi ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
Ang dalawang two-storey homes ni Yulo ay makikita sa isang 500-square meter na lote na nagkakahalaga ng ₱15 milyon, ayon kay POC secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan.
Para kay Petecio, ito ang magiging pangalawang tahanan niya sa Tagaytay City pagkatapos ng una niyang natanggap para sa kanyang silver medal win mula sa Tokyo 2020. Kapitbahay ni Petecio ang kapwa silver medalist na si Carlos Paalam at bronze medalist na si Eumir Felix Marcial sa isang compound na angkop na tinatawag na Olympic Village.
Itatayo ang mga bungalow nina Petecio at Villegas sa magkakahiwalay na 200-square meter na lupa at tulad ng kay Yulo, bibigyan din sila ng mga pangunahing kagamitan, ayon kay Tolentino.
“All the rewards and bonuses that go our medalists’ way are well-deserved, it’s not easy to medal in the Olympics, it takes years, it takes focus, discipline and determination. These athletes invested their lives into the sports they love and now, they’re reaping the fruits of their sacrifices,” dagdag pa ni Tolentino.
Ang pangulo ng POC ay kapatid ni Sen. Francis Tolentino na kilala ring sumusuporta sa mga atletang Pilipino.
