Kinilala ang Pilipinas bilang Asia’s Best Cruise Destination sa ikatlong World Cruise Awards na ginanap sa Dubai.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na nakamit ng bansa ang prestihiyosing parangal, matapos talunin ang India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, at Vietnam.
“Our archipelago of 7,641 islands offers a wide array of cruise experiences, from exploring picturesque coastlines and coral reefs to immersing in local culture and traditions,” ayon kay Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco.
Ang Abu Dhabi naman ay itinanghal na World’s Best Cruise Destination kung saan nominado rin ang Pilipinas.
Ang World Cruise Awards ay may kaugnayan sa World Tourism Awards, na kumikilala sa mga kontribusyon ng iba’t ibang sektor sa industriya ng turismo sa buong mundo.
“This prestigious award is not only a testament to the Philippines’ allure as a cruise destination but also a validation of the collective dedication of the tourism industry and the Department of Tourism,” saad pa ni Frasco.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Philippine Ports Authority na isang international cruise ship terminal ang nakatakdang magbukas sa Siargao at Coron sa Palawan ngayong taon.
