Iginiit ni Atty. Robby Consunji, trustee ng Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) na ang comprehensive driver education isa sa mga susi para maiwasan ang mga kaso ng road rage sa lansangan.
“There is a very wide variance in today’s movement on the road. Iyong iba mabilis, ‘yong iba mabagal. Iyong iba, sumusunod sa batas, iyong iba, hindi. Iba sumesenyas, iyong iba, hindi. So, ‘yong dating sa akin is, magagalit ako kapag hindi ka sumusunod. Hindi mo ako pinagbigyan, gagantihan ko ‘yong susunod. ‘Yong makita kong motor o kotse. So, a lot of it is road education, which is not there,” ani Consunji sa panayam ng ‘Strictly Confidential’.
“I think the authorities, I think it’s time for the authorities to step up, going to information, education, and screening. It’s time for the authorities to show that they have a system for investigation, prosecution, and ticketing, and the justice system can apply. Unless we bring those together, we will continue to see what I call “vigilante enforcement” of the law,” paliwanag ni Consunji.
Samantala, pagdating naman sa mga vehicular accident na laganap sa bansa, iminungkahi ni Consunji sa gobyerno na mamuhunan sa training para magkaroon ng science-based traffic investigation at hindi na lang puro “nawalan ng preno” ang itinuturong may sanhi ng mga sakuna.
“Kasi, they need to be trained, first and foremost. All the investigators need to be trained. And we don’t need all investigators, at least, if there is one major vehicular accident, hinihimay mo ‘yong crime scene,” aniya.
