Nakatakdang tumestigo ang mga dating at kasalukuyang opisyal ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa extradition hearing laban kay dating Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves, Jr. sa Timor Leste.

“At the end of the day, it is a fair and it is an impartial trial by a fair and impartial judge, and that is our justice system… Our Constitution is so pro-accused we have rights of the accused under the Bill of Rights, and it is high time for Teves to face the charges against him and not use the media to prove his innocence,” sabi ni DOJ Undersecretary Raul Vasquez.

Ayon kay Department of Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez, kasama sa mga testigo sina dating Supreme Court Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza, Bureau of Corrections Director General Pio Gregorio Catapang, Jr., National Amnesty Commission Chairperson Leah Tanodra-Armamento at Presidential Human Rights Committee Undersecretary Nonoy Catura.

Sinabi ni Vasquez na ang mga saksi ay magsasalita laban sa mga paratang ng poor human rights protection sa Pilipinas, lack of fair at impartial trials, safety threats, at torture fears na galing sa kampo ni Teves.

Inihayag ng DOJ ang kanilang mga saksi kasunod ng pagbubunyag ni Atty. Ferdinand Topacio na bukod sa kanya, si dating Commission on Human Rights Commissioner Wilhelm Soriano at dating Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo ay tumestigo para kay Teves.
