“Czech authorities have informed us that Mr. Zaldy Co is no longer in their custody. From the moment we received information on his whereabouts, the Philippine government moved as quickly as we could,” saad ni Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida.
Sa kanyang press conference mula sa Prague ngayong Martes, Abril 28, kinumpirma ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Fredderick Vida na wala na sa kustodiya ng mga awtoridad sa Czech Republic ang dating congressman na si Zaldy Co.
Ito ay matapos magtungo si Vida at iba pang matataas na opisyal ng DOJ sa Prague upang makipag-ugnayan sa mga opisyal ng Czech Republic para sa posibleng extradition ng dating mambabatas.
“We are working across sovereign borders. Every country has its own laws, processes, and timelines. And we can’t compel a foreign government to act outside its legal framework,” sabi ni Vida.
Sa ngayon, hinihintay na lamang ng DOJ ang magiging sagot ng Interpol sa hiling nilang red notice laban kay Co na isinumite noon pang Nobyembre.
