Tiwala si Atty. Sheila Solis, lead counsel ng defense team ni Vice President Sara Duterte, na ibabasura ng Senate impeachment court ang mga Articles of Impeachment na inihain laban sa kanyang kliyente at walang magagawa ang Kamara rito kung hindi respetuhin ang resulta ng pagdinig.
“According to the Constitution, it is the Senate that has the sole power to try and decide all cases of impeachment. This power is not shared,” ayon kay Atty. Solis.
“The Constitution gives no other body…department, tribunal, agency, or mere committee of any institution the power to try an impeachment case,” dagdag niya.
Binatikos din ni Solis ang diumano’y isinagawang “mini-trial” ng House Committee on Justice laban kay VP Sara na kanyang inilarawan bilang isang “vast fishing expedition” para makakalap ng mga ebidensiyang wala namang basehan para lamang madiin ang Bise Presidente sa mga iba’t ibang alegasyon.
