Sinabi ni Atty. Benjamin Tolosa Jr., legal spokesperson ng House prosecution panel, na igagalang ng prosecution ang anumang magiging desisyon ni Vice President Sara Duterte kung personal itong haharap o hahayaan na lamang ang kanyang mga abogado ang kumatawan sa kanya sa impeachment trial.
“We will still respect the rules of impeachment and the order issued by the impeachment court wherein the Vice President was given an option to appear either in person or through counsel,” ani Tolosa.
Ito ay matapos siyang tanungin tungkol sa reaksiyon ng prosecution sa sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na kung siya ang nasa kaparehong sitwasyon, personal siyang dadalo sa pagdinig dahil kaya niyang sagutin ang mga alegasyon laban sa kanya.
Gayunman, binigyang-diin ni Tolosa ang utos ng Senate impeachment court na maaaring humarap si Duterte “in person or through counsel” kaya rerespetuhin ng prosecution panel ang anumang piliin nito.
“Naririnig po natin yung mga opinyon at sentimiyento ng ating mga kababayan. Ang sinasabi nila, considering the seriousness of the allegations in this impeachment proceedings, nararapat lang po na harapin po ito nang personal ng Bise Presidente. But having said that, we will still respect the rules of impeachment,” ani Tolosa.
