“It’s probably just a matter of time anyway before it will hit P60, the exchange rate is a price like any other price, just like the price of any other goods,” saad ni Dr. Peter.

Gayunpaman, sinabi ng ekonomista na dahil sa rate cut ng Federal Reserve ay posible umano itong mag-nullify ng pressure sa piso na mag-depreciate, “Because if the US cuts its interest rates, then the interest differential is preserved.”

“We understand very well that a depreciating peso would tend to benefit those who receive money from abroad I mean the families of OFW are the most obvious beneficiaries of this,” paliwanag niya sa isang panayam sa ‘Market Edge’ ng ANC 24/7 nitong Huwebes, Disyembre 11.

“So depreciating peso would also mean higher prices for probably many goods including most notably usually the one that fastest that gets felt quickly is oil prices. So higher oil prices is a problem,” dagdag pa niya.
