Dalawang mass action ang inorganisa ng iba’t ibang grupo sa Biyernes, Enero 31 sa Metro Manila upang suportahan ang impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte na isinasangkot sa multi-milyong pisong kontrobersiya sa confidential fund sa Office of the Vice President (OVP) at Department of Education (DepEd) na dati niyang pinamunuan.
“Just to be clear, our multisectoral rally is on Jan 31 9AM at the PEOPLE POWER MONUMENT. This is solely for the IMPEACHMENT OF SARA!” ipinost ni Sen. Antonio Trillanes sa kanyang social media account.
Ang isang aktibidad na gaganapin sa umaga ay pinangungunahan ng mga grupong pulitikal at progresibo, habang ang ikalawa na ikinasa sa hapon ay suportado ng mga lider ng religious groups at ilang retired military officials.
Lumutang ang diumano’y namumuong hidwaan sa pagitan ng dalawang grupo nang mag-post si dating Trillanes na ang ikalawang aktibidad ay sinusuportahan ng mga retired “pro-Duterte” generals.
“This is different from the rally at EDSA Shrine in the afternoon of Jan. 31 that was organized by civil society [groups] but got mixed up with DDS groups and pro-Duterte retired generals,” sabi ni Trillanes, na isang dating Philippine Navy captain, sa kanyang post sa social media.
Agad namang dumepensa si retired Brig. Gen. Eliseo Rio Jr., na itinalagang acting secretary ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) noong panunungkulan ni former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Iginiit ni Rio na nagbitiw sa DICT noong panahon ni Duterte dahil sa umano’y katiwaliang nangyayari sa ahensiya.
“About Sonny Trillanes, we were together in the military. That may be why he specifically said retired pro-Duterte generals. I am one of them. In fact, there’s a lot of us (in the rally). But we are really for good governance,” sabi ni Rio.
Pumalag din si Rio sa bansag sa kanila ni Trillanes na “retired pro-Duterte generals.”
