Sinabi ni Commodore Jay Tarriela, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, sa ginanap na press conference ngayong Martes, Enero 14, na naniniwala sila na intensyon ng pamahalaan ng China na “i-normalize” ang presensya ng Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) sa karagatan ng bansa.

“We believe that the intention of the Chinese government is to normalize the presence of (CCG) in this area,” saad ni Tarriela.

Batay sa naging initial assessment ng PCG, nasa pang-apat na dash mula sa “9, now 10-dash line” ng China sa WPS nagagangap ang sentro ng operasyon ng CCG.

Inihayag din ni Tarriela na hindi hahayaan ng PCG na maging regular ang presensya ng CCG sa exclusive economic zone (EEZ) ng bansa.

“We are documenting this illegal presence of the Chinese Coast Guard and telling the world that the Philippine government is against this unlawful presence of the Chinese Coast Guard 5901,” dagdag nito.
