Pinasalamatan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. nitong Lunes, Oktubre 14, si United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed para sa pagkakaloob ng pardon sa 143 Pilipino, at sinabing ang “generous” na pagpapatawad ay nagdulot ng “relief to many families.”
“I expressed my gratitude for the kindness extended to them, particularly their generous pardon of 143 Filipinos, which has brought relief to many families,” ayon sa Pangulo.
Hindi binanggit ni Marcos Jr. kung ano ang mga krimen na kinasangkutan ng 143 Pilipino at kung ano ang mga sentensiyang ipinataw sa kanila ng UAE courts, ngunit sinabi niyang ipinaabot niya ang mensahe sa pamamagitan ng isang tawag sa telepono sa Malacañang.
“Our nations share strong bonds, rooted in the values and aspirations of our peoples, and I look forward to strengthening this partnership in the years ahead,” saad pa ni Marcos.
“I extended to him my heartfelt thanks for the UAE’s humanitarian aid in the wake of the recent typhoons and floods that struck the Philippines,” dagdag ni Marcos.
Sa 2.16 milyong overseas Filipino workers (OWs) na nasa talaan ng government agencies noong 2023, 13.6 porsiyento ang nagtrabaho sa UAE, ayon sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority.
