Sinuportahan ni Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero ang pagiisyu ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ng Executive Order No. 20 upang gawing simple ang proseso ng importasyon ng mga agricultural products upang mapigilan ang pagtaas ng presyo ng mga basic commodities.
“True and genuine food security is based on domestic ability and supply to answer our needs with importation simply being a stop-gap or in the interim while we haven’t achieved food security yet in order to curb inflation of basic food staples,” pahayag ni Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero.
“I agree with the President but I would have preferred that more emphasis is given on local production than importation,” sabi ni Escudero nitong Lunes, Abril 22.
Binigyang diin ng Senador na ang pagaangkat ng mga agricultural products ay pansamantalang solusyon lamang sa pangangailangan ng bansa sa produktong karne at isda.
Target ni Pangulong Marcos na bawasan ang administrative procedure at pagaalis ng non-tariff barriers
Naniniwala si Sen. Chiz na matutugunan ni Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francis Tiu Laurel Jr. ang posibleng pag-abuso ng mga pasaway na importers sakaling gawing simple ng gobyerno ang administrative procedures at tanggalin ang non-tariff barriers sa pagaangkat ng agri products.
“I trust that Secretary Laurel will hold accountable whoever commits abuses as I know him to be a man of integrity and will not tolerate corruption,” aniya.
