Naaresto ng Scientific and Criminal Investigation Police sa Dili, East Timor, nitong Huwebes, Marso 21, si dating Negros Oriental Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. na nahaharap sa patung-patung na kaso ng murder sa Pilipinas.
“Today’s apprehension of Teves is a testament to the power of international cooperation. It sends a clear message that no terrorist can evade justice and that nations stand united in safeguarding the safety and security of their citizens,” sabi ni DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Ang pagkakaaresto kay Teves ay kinumpirma ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na nagsabing dinampot ito ng mga awtoridad habag naglalaro sa Top Golf Driving Range and Bar dakong alas-4 ng hapon.
Si Teves ay wanted ng Philippine law enforcement authorities dahil sa diumano’ypagpatay kay dating Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo at siyam na iba sa bayan ng Pamplona noong Marso 4, 2023.
Kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya kay Teves ng Timorese Police habang hinihintay ang extradition proceedings ng National Central Bureau (NCB) sa Dili, East Timor katulong ang NCB Manila at mga kinatawan ng Embahada ng Pilipinas doon.
