Kinasuhan sa Office of the Ombudsman si CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III ng isang suspendidong opisyal ng komisyon dahil sa umano’y pagpabor sa isang supplier na binigyan ng kontrata bagamat hindi ito kuwalipikado sa proyekto.
Sa isang 5-pahinang dokumento na isinumite sa Office of the Ombudsman nitong Martes, Marso 12, inireklamo ng suspendidong Commission on Higher Education (CHED) na si Aldrin Darilag si de Vera ng graft at grave abuse of authority dahil sa diumano’y pagpabor sa isang supplier.
“Respondent De Vera would like me to support Aspen as a supplier of CHED even though it did not comply with the requirements stipulated in Republic Act 9184, otherwise known as the procurement law. He even asked me to have a meeting with Aspen representatives, which I refused to do,” nakasaad sa sinumpaang salaysay ni Darilag.
Matatandaan na noong Enero 14, 2024, ipinagutos ng Office of the President na isailalim si Darilag sa 90-day preventive suspension dahil sa umano’y grave misconduct, neglect in the performance of his duties at abuse of authority and oppression.
Iginiit naman ni Darilag na hindi siya nakatanggap ng kopya ng reklamo at maging show cause order laban sa kanya na, aniya’y, isang paglabag sa kanyang karapatan.
