Inaprubahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang extension para sa franchise consolidation sa ilalim ng Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), na nagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga gustong mag-consolidate, ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved Transport Secretary Jaime J. Bautista’s recommendation, granting an additional three months until April 30, 2024 for the consolidation of public utility vehicles,” ayon sa Presidential Communications Office.
“This extension is to give an opportunity to those who expressed intention to consolidate but did not make the previous cut-off.”
Sinabi ng Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na ang mga public utility vehicles na may kabuuang 190,000 units, na binubuo ng UV Express, PUJs, mini-bus at bus, ay naka-avail na ng franchise consolidation.
Nagawang makamit ng UV express ang 82 porsiyentong consilidation; jeepney, 75 porsiyento; mga bus, 86 porsiyento; at mini-buses, 45 percent, sabi ng LTFRB.
