Nilinaw ni Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. sa kanyang educational background noong Lunes, Nobyembre 13, kasunod ng mga bagong ulat na mayroon siyang bachelor’s degree sa computer science mula sa University of Santo Tomas.
“Let me clear the air about my educational background given news reports that claim I am an alumnus of the University of Santo Tomas, or any other institution of higher learning. That is not true,” ayon kay DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel.
“I never finished my education because I became a father at 19. I needed to work to support my eldest child. My father impressed upon me that my responsibility as a father comes first,” sabi ni Laurel.
Aniya, ang mga obligasyon sa pamilya ang humadlang sa kanya sa pagtapos ng kanyang pag-aaral. Sa halip, tumulong siya sa pagtatayo ng family’s company, Frabelle.
Ang Frabelle Fishing Corporation ay isang deep-sea fishing company na nagsu-supply ng sariwa, frozen, at processed seafood na produkto sa mga domestic at international market. Kasangkot din ito sa pagbuo ng kuryente at pagpapaunlad ng real estate.
