Agad na tinanggal ni Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang komento nito sa X (dating Twitter) kung saan inihayag nito ang kanyang pagpabor sa pagbura sa mga Kabataang Paletino sa mundo upang tuluyang matuldukan ang karahasang nagaganap sa kanilang rehiyon.
“That’s why Palestinian children should be killed; they might grow up to become as gullible as innocent Palestinians letting Hamas launch rockets at Israel…” bahagi ng post ni Locsin.
Kasabay nito, dumistansiya rin ang Department of Foreign affairs sa kontrobersiyal na pahayag ni Locsin at ayon sa ahensiya, ginawa niya ito sa personal niyang kapasidad.
“My apologies to those who did misconstrue my sentiments and did in fact get triggered – I obviously was not advocating for the literal death of anyone, but rather simply for the end of an ideology that condones terrorism in any way, shape or form.” sinabi ng envoy.
Binura ni Locsin ang kanyang post ay matapos ulanin ng batikos mula sa mga netizen.
“I immediately deleted my sarcastic response to a tweet as I realized it could be misconstrued and retweeted to incite,” paliwanag niya.
Bukod sa kanyang diplomatic assignment bilang Philippine Ambassador to UK, si Locsin ay itinalaga rin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. bilang special envoy to the People’s Republic of China.
Samantala, may mensahe naman si Prof. Ronald Holmes, isang political scientist, para kay Locsin.
“While he (Locsin) claims the post is ‘sarcastic,’ the tactless remarks, to say the least, is becoming of a diplomat,” pahayag ni Holmes.
