Idineklara ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na malaya na sa bandidong Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) ang munisipalidad ng Talipao sa Sulu.
Sa simpleng seremonya, pormal na idineklarang ASG-free na ng Municipal Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) at 1101st Infantry Brigade at 2nd Special Force Battalion ang Talipao.
Bukod sa deklarasyon ng pagiging ASG-free ng lugar, sinabi ni Brig. Gen. Eugenio C. Boquio, commander ng 101st Infantry Brigade na panahon na upang kilalanin ang kabayanihan ng mga nasa likod ng Battle of Bud Talipao.
“We held the declaration of Talipao as ASG Free in Bud Talipao due to its historical significance. It’s been 110 years since the Battle of Bud Talipao and it is high-time we honor their heroism and sacrifices,” ani Boquio.
Kasunod nito, plano rin ng mga opisyal sa lugar na i-promote ang lugar bilang potential tourist site.
“We are also promoting this as a potential tourist site for the people of Talipao to benefit,” dagdag ng opisyal.
Tampok sa deklarasyon ang paglalagay ng Battle of Bud Talipao Memorial Marker na may mga katagang “I WAS HERE.”
Samantala, nagpasalamat si Brig. Gen. Taharuddin P. Ampatuan, assistant commander ng 11th Infantry Division, sa lahat ng residente ng Lupah Sug dahil binigyan sila ng pagkakataon na makapagserbisyo sa mga residente.
