Bagamat nirerespeto nila ang inaatas ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa power companies na itigil na ang paniningil ng “system loss” sa mga consumer, ipinaliwanag ni Engr. Ronnie Aperocho, executive vice president at chief operating officer ng Manila Electric Company (Meralco) na mahalaga pa rin para sa kanila na makabawi para sa mga technical problems sa pamamahagi ng kuryente.
“We believe it is important to recognize that system loss is not unique to any distribution utility but is a common operational aspect of the delivery of electricity – which affects the entire power industry,” pahayag ni Meralco EVP at COO Engr. Ronnie Aperocho.
“While distribution utilities like Meralco continue to invest in modernizing and upgrading facilities and deploying technologies that reduce system loses, a certain level of technical losses remains inherent in operating an electric distribution system,” paliwanag ni Aperocho.
Partikular na iniatas ni PBBM sa Kongreso ang pag-amiyenda ng Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 upang mabawasan ang singil sa kuryente at maibsan ang paghihirap ng mga mamamayan ngayong nahaharap sa krisis ang bansa.

Umapela ang Meralco executives sa gobyernong Marcos para sa isang diyalogo kasama ang iba pang ahensiya ng pamahalaan at mga stakeholders upang kanilang maipaliwanag ang epekto ng pagtanggal sa “systems loss” charge sa power industry.
