Handa nang maglaan ang Department of Transportation (DOTr) ng P2.95 bilyong fuel subsidy para sa mga operators at drivers ng public utility vehicles (PUV) para maibsan ang epekto ng sunud-sunod na pagtaas ng produktong petrolyo.
Ayon sa DOTr, target nitong mabiyayaan ang may 1.640 milyung drivers at operators, kabilang ang mga tricycle driver at delivery riders.
Sa pakikipag-koordinasyon ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), tiniyak ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista na bibilisan nila ang pamamahagi ng cash assistance.
“We will make sure that the assistance to our PUV drivers will be distributed immediately so they can use it, pay for their fuel and improve their daily income,” ayon sa kalihim.
Base sa datos ng LTFRB, aabot sa 280,000 PUV drivers ang makatatanggap ng on-time cash grant mula sa gobyerno.
Ang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at Department of Inforation and Communications Technology (DICT) ang magaabot ng tulong pinansiyal sa 930,000 tricycle drivers at 150,000 delivery service riders, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
Ani Bautista, magbibigay ang LTFRB ng P10,000 sa kada modern public utility jeepney (MPUJ) at modern UV express driver, habang ang iba naman ay tatanggap ng tig-P6,500.
Ang tricycle at delivery riders ay mabibigyan ng P1,000 at P1,200 cash assistance.
