Tatagal na lamang hanggang Marso 31 ang operasyon ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) dahil natupad na nito ang mandato na imbestigahan ang maanomalyang flood control project scandal, ayon kay ICI chairperson Andres Reyes Jr.
“I hereby recommend that the ICI wind down its operations. The Commission will remain operational until March 31, 2026 to complete the necessary administrative processes related to its wind down,” pahayag ni Reyes.
Binanggit ni Reyes bilang tagumpay ang pagsumite ng ICI ng siyam na referral na kinasasangkutan ng 65 indibidwal sa Office of the Ombudsman, gayundin ang pagbuo ng tatlong information systems na tumukoy sa mga iregularidad sa mga infrastructure projects.
“These accomplishments demonstrate that, with strong inter-agency coordination, proper investigations can be conducted which could ultimately lead to the successful prosecution of those responsible and the recovery of stolen public funds,” aniya.
“May we always remember that crime does not, and should never, pay. No one is, and should ever be, above the law,” dagdag pa.
