Inanyayahan ng Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang publiko na makilahok sa isang digital media fasting upang magkaroon ng oras para sa pagdarasal, pagbabasa ng Magandang Balita, Eucharistic devotion, works of mercy, at meaningful encounters.
“Digital media fasting helps restore balance and reminds us that technology must serve human life—not dominate it,” saad ng CBCP.
“Fasting redirects attention from self-centered habits to the loving service of others. It is not deprivation but transformation,” dagdag nito.
Ayon sa CBCP, ang mga praktikal na paraan ng pag-digital media fasting ay ang mga sumusunod:
Pag-iwas sa paggamit ng phone bago matulog at pagkagising;
Pagbabawas ng social media at streaming time;
Pag-iwas sa paggamit ng anumang device kapag kumakain o kapag may salusalo;
Pag-practice ng 24-hour o weekend digital fasts;
Pagtanggal sa mga nakaka-distract na apps; at
Pagpalit sa screen time ng pagdarasal, service, pagbabasa, o pakikipag-usap.
“Technology is a blessing when used responsibly, yet excessive media use often leads to distraction, fatigue, loss of focus, weakened relationships, and diminished spiritual awareness…Digital media fasting is not simply about giving something up. It is about making room for something better,” saad pa ng CBCP.
