Isinulong ni Sen. Jinggoy Estrada ang pagpapatupad ng mas mahigpit na penalties at pag-expand ng coverage ng Presidential Decree No. 1727 o Bomb Threat Law upang isama ang digital platforms.

“The safety and security of the public are non-negotiable. These false threats are deliberate acts of disruption that endanger lives, paralyze institutions, and waste valuable government resources,” saad ni Estrada.

Sa ilalim ng kanyang panukalang Senate Bill No. 1076 o False Bomb Threat Prohibition Act, paparusahan ang sinumang magpapakalat ng maling impormasyon tungkol sa bomba, explosives, o incendiary devices sa ilang public places ng anim hanggang 12 taong pagkakakulong, at multa na nasa P1 milyon hanggang P5 milyon.

Ito ay matapos ang sunud-sunod na hoax threats na nanggulo sa operasyon ng mga paaralan at government offices sa Bulacan, Bicol, Cebu, Caloocan City, at Manila.

“The rise of social media and digital communication platforms has made it easier for malicious individuals to spread panic with just a few clicks. It’s time we update our laws to keep up with these realities,” saad ni Estrada.
