Pinaiimbestigahan ng dalawang kongresista ang mga naganap na akisdente sa ginanap na 2024 BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge (BIMC) na diumano’y kumitil ng buhay ng dalawang non-participant sa Northern Luzon kamakailan.
“It is the duty of Congress to safeguard the safety of our nation’s roads and the welfare of the Filipino people, and to take decisive action to prevent further tragedies associated with such events,” nakasaad sa House Bill No. 1612 na inihain ni 1-Rider party-list Congressmen Bonifacio Bosita at Ramon Rodrigo.
Inihain nila 1-Rider party-list Representatives Bonifacio Bosita at Rodrigo Gutierrez nitong Lunes, Marso 4, ang House Bill No. 1612 na humihiling sa Committee on Transportation and Public Order and Safety na imbestigahan ang mga akisdente na naganap sa BIMC event noong Pebrero 25-26 kung saan umabot sa 2,000 big bikers ang nakilahok.
Karamihan sa mga akisdenteng nangyari ang naging viral sa social media.
Nakasaad sa dokumento na dapat tapusin ng mga participant ang 1,400-kilometrong ruta sa loob ng 24 oras, dahilan upang sila ay humataw sa mga daraanang lugar na halos walang pahinga.
“Despite the event’s emphasis on safety, discipline, and the enjoyment of the ride rather than speed, there has been a rise in life-threatening incidents since its inception over two decades ago due to some participants attempting to set unofficial speed records, resulting in silent rivalry among participants and motorcycle clubs, leading to numerous infractions and disqualifications,” ayon sa HB 1612.
“It has become imperative to reassess and fortify the existing regulations and safety protocols governing endurance events and unsanctioned road races to prevent further life-threatening incidents,” dagdag pa nito.
