Lumagda ang mga miyembro ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) political party sa isang manifesto upang ihayag ang kanilang pagkakaisa sa pagsuporta sa liderato ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa gitna ng mga batikos laban sa kanya hinggil sa People’s Initiative.
“We, the members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) in the House of Representatives, stand united in our resolve to defend the integrity of our esteemed Speaker, the Honorable Martin Romualdez, against the unfounded criticisms levied upon him in the context of the People’s Initiative to amend the 1987 Constitution,” nakasaad sa manifesto ng Lakas-CMD.
“We express our unwavering support for Speaker Martin Romualdez, recognizing his leadership and commitment to the principles of democracy and good governance. The allegations against him, centered around the People’s Initiative, are baseless and do not reflect the true nature of his service to the nation,” giit ng grupo.
Ang Lakas-CMD ay itinuturing na isa sa pinakamalaking partido pulitikal sa bansa na may 94 miyembro sa Kamara na pinamumunuan ni Romualdez.
Ayon sa manifesto, proven na sa record ni Romualdez ang mahalagang papel nito para maipasa ang mahahalagang panukala na may kaugnayan sa paglago ng ekonomiya, pagkakaroong ng karagdagang trabaho at pag-aangat ng kalidad ng buhay ng mga Pinoy.
