Nagpahayag ng pagdududa ang private prosecutor na si Atty. Lorna Kapunan sa “real intention” ng kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa Senate impeachment trial kung pagbabatayan ang naging reaksiyon ng defense team sa pagbawi ng prosekusyon sa tatlo sa apat na articles of impeachment laban sa Bise Presidente.
“Ba’t hindi sila happy? Imbes na apat ang sasagutin nila, isa na lang. I think that reveals the real intention… not to present evidence, but to use the impeachment trial as a political platform to ventilate their politics, to propagate the narrative of the Vice President,” ani Kapunan nang ma-interview sa ‘Facts First’ ni Christian Esguerra.
“Kung innocent ka, happy ka dapat na nabawasan yung charges against you. Unless hindi ‘yan ang agenda mo. Unless ang agenda mo ay gamitin ‘yung 30 hours na ‘yan para magkampanya para sa election mo,” saad pa ni Kapunan.
Hinala ni Kapunan, nangangamba ang defense team na “mawalan” ng platform at opportunity si VP Sara upang “tirahin” ang impeachment court kaugnay ng pagkandidato nito sa pagkapresidente sa 2028 elections.
“Siguro hindi sila nasiyahan, hindi sila naging happy, because nawalan sila ng platform o nawalan ang Vice President ng opportunity para tirahin ang impeachment court sa mga allegations niya,” ani Kapunan.
“We will see. In fact, it is inconsistent. The reaction ng defense counsels and the Vice President herself is inconsistent with a claim of innocence,” giit pa ni Kapunan.
