Inianunsiyo ng mga miyembro ng bagong majority bloc, na pinamumunuan ni Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, na ido-donate ng bawat isa sa kanila ang kanilang isang buwang sahod para sa mga biktima ng magnitude 7.8 na lindol na tumama sa Sarangani Province sa Mindanao nitong Lunes, Hunyo 8.
“The Senate New Majority stands with the families and communities in Mindanao who are now facing the painful work of rescue, relief, rebuilding and recovery after the powerful earthquake,” saad pa ng bagong majority bloc sa kanilang joint statement.
Hinimok naman nila ang mga kasamahan sa minority, na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, na makiisa sa pagdo-donate para sa mga apektado ng trahedya.
“This is a moment when the Senate, whatever its internal divisions, can still speak through one act of shared compassion,” dagdag pa ng mga senador.
