Idineklara ng Supreme Court ngayong Biyernes, Hulyo 25, na “unconstitutional” ang inihaing articles of impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte dahil ito ay labag sa one-year bar rule na nakasaad sa Konstitusyon, ayon kay SC spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting.
“In a unanimous decision today, July 25, 2025, the Supreme Court En Banc declared the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, is unconstitutional,” saad ni Ting.
“It is barred by the one-year rule, under Article 11, Section 3, paragraph 5 of the Constitution, and that it violates the right to due process enshrined in the Bill of Rights, therefore the Senate could not acquire jurisdiction over the impeachment proceedings,” paliwanag pa nito.
Idineklara rin na “terminated or dismissed” ang naunang tatlong impeachment complaints na nangangahulugang wala munang impeachment complaint ang maaaring ihain laban kay Duterte hanggang Pebrero 6, 2026.
