Personal na humingi ng paumanhin si Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero hindi lamang sa publiko ngunit maging sa kanyang mga kabaro sa Senado matapos tumakas ang kanyang driver nang sitahin ng mga traffic enforcer dahil sa ilegal na paggamit ng EDSA bus lane nitong Huwebes, Abril 11.
“I apologize to the public and my colleagues in the Senate for this oversight. Moving forward, I commit to ensure that the protocol plates entrusted to me are used appropriately, consistent with the provisions of Executive Order No. 56 series of 2024,” ayon kay Escudero.
Sa isang kalatas ngayong Biyernes, Abril 12, aminado si Escudero na kanya ang itim na SUV na may protocol plate “7” na dumaan sa EDSA bus lane kahapon ng umaga na tumakas nang kunin ng mga enforcer ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang mga dokumento ng sasakyan mula sa kanilang family driver.
“The No. 7 protocol plate was also abused because vehicles with these plates are not allowed to use the bus lanes,” sabi ni Sen. Chiz.
Dahil dito, tiniyak ng mambabatas na inatasan na niya ang kanilang family driver na magtungo sa MMDA bilang pagtugon sa show-cause order na inilabas ng ahensiya at harapin ang mga kasong ihahain laban sa kanya.
“I do not personally use the protocol license plates issued to me, and forthwith the protocol plates involved in the incident will be surrendered to the LTO,” dagdag ni Escudero.
Samantala, sinaluduhan ni Sen. Chiz ang mga MMDA team na tapat na nagpapatupad ng batas trapiko at pinapatawan ng kaukulang parusa ang mga pasaway na motorista – ano man ang kanilang posisyon o titulo sa lipunan.
