Nagbabala ang European Union (EU) kay tech and automobile mogul Elon Musk na maaaring itong magmulta dahil sa disinformation na lumalaganap ngayon sa X (dating Twitter) hinggil sa Hamas-Israeli war, batay sa umiiral na batas sa EU hinggil sa social media content moderation.
Ayon sa sulat na isinapubliko ni Thierry Breton, isang mataas na commissioner ng EU sa mismong X, sinabi nitong nagagamit ang social media platform para magpalaganap ng ilegal at maling impormasyon hinggil sa nangyayaring kaguluhan sa pagitan ng militanteng Hamas at Israeli forces.
“Let me remind you that the Digital Services Act sets very precise obligations regarding content moderation,” ani Breton sa kanyang open letter kay Musk.
“First, you need to be very transparent and clear on what content is permitted under your terms and consistently and diligently enforce your policies. This is particularly relevant when it comes to violent and terrorist content that appears to circulate on your platform. Your latest changes in public interest policies that occured over night left many European users uncertain,” ayon kay Breton.
Binigyang-diin din ni Breton na sakaling magpadala ng “notices on illegal content in the EU” ang EU authorities kay Musk, dapat na tanggalin niya agad-agad ang naturang mga post.
Sinabi rin ni Breton na dapat na may “proportionate and effective measures” ang X para maagapan ang panganib sa seguridad ng publiko at civic discourse na dulot ng disimpormasyon na nagaganap sa social media platform.
