Sinabi ng Pangulo na walang dapat ikabahala sa patuloy na paghina ng halaga piso kontra dolyar matapos sumadsad ito sa bagong record low na ₱64:$1 nitong Martes, Oktubre 27.
Ayon kay Marcos, dulot ito ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng langis at petrolyo sa global market.
Tiniyak naman niyang gagamitin ng pamahalaan ang lahat ng posibleng hakbang upang depensahan ang halaga ng piso.
“People can take solace in the fact that our policy towards the peso is to continue to defend the peso as hard as we possibly can. We have all the tools, all the means to defend the peso,” ani Marcos.
“Our foreign exchange reserves are healthy,” dagdag pa nito.
