Handa na ang P20 billion emergency fund para sa pagbili ng karagdagang 2 milyong bariles ng langis bilang hakbang ng gobyerno na matiyak na hindi magkakaaberya sa suplay ng petrolyo at maiwasan ang pagpalo ng presyo nito kasabay ng kaguluhan sa Gitnang Silangan, ayon sa Department of Energy (DOE).
“The funds will be used to implement the DOE’s Emergency Energy Program, which includes the procurement of refined petroleum products, LPG supply augmentation, and domestic inventory stocks building,” ayon sa statement ng DOE nitong Huwebes, Marso 27.
“Under the program, the target volume is set at up to 2 million barrels of fuel, intended to support domestic requirements and mitigate the impact of global supply fluctuations,” ayon pa sa Kagawaran.
Ayon sa kagawaran, ang naturang pondo ay ililipat sa pangangalaga ng Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) at PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC EC) na magpapatupad ng strategic fuel program ng pamahalaan.
