Pinuri ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez ngayong Huwebes, Hulyo 4, ang Gilas Pilipinas sa kanilang 89-80 panalo laban sa world no. 6 Latvia sa 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament kagabi.

“Hindi lamang ito simpleng panalo sa scoreboard, kundi isang panalo para sa puso ng bawat atletang nangangarap na irepresent ang Pilipinas sa pandaigdigang kompetisyon. Nagsisilbi itong inspirasyon sa maraming Pilipino na magpursige dahil iba ang talento ng mga Pilipino,” sabi ni Romualdez.
Naganap ang laban sa Arena Riga sa Latvia kung saan napatunayan ng Gilas Pilipinas, sa pangunguna ni coach Tim Cone, ang kanilang katapangan at determinasyon laban sa bigating European team.
