Sa liham na ipinadala ni US President Donald Trump sa Pilipinas na may petsang Hulyo 9, itinaas sa 20 porsyento ang taripa sa “any and all Philippine products sent into the United States” mula sa dating 17 porsyentong rate noong Abril 2 ng kasalukuyang taon.
“Starting on August 1, 2025, we will charge the Philippines a Tariff of only 20% on any and all Philippine products sent into the United States,” saad sa liham ni Trump.
“We have had years to discuss our Trading Relationship with the Philippines and have concluded that we must move away from these long-term, and very persistent, Trade Deficits engendered by the Philippine’s Tariff, and Non-Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers,” ani Trump sa liham.
Sinabi rin niya na daragdagan nila ng 20 porsyento ang taripa sa lahat ng produkto ng bansa kung itataas ng Pilipinas ang taripa sa mga produkto mula US.
“These Tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your Country,” saad ni Trump sa pagtatapos ng kanyang liham.
