Agad na ipinagutos ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian ang pamamahagi ng 80 tonelada na donasyon mula sa United Arab Emirates (UAE) sa mga local government units na nasalanta ng bagyong ‘Carina’ at habagat nitong Biyernes, Agosto 1.
“DSWD will make sure the contents are trucked to the concerned local government units for their distribution. No donations will sleep with us,” sinabi ni DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
Ang mga relief goods mula sa United Arab Emirates (UAE) ay naglalaman ng mga pasta, wheat flour, basmati rice, red lentils, dates, chickpeas, powdered juice, tomato paste, asukal, asin at sweet corn.
Ang mga ito ay ipinamahagi sa mga naapektuhan sa Marikina, Navotas at lalawigan ng Bulacan, Bataan at Pampanga.
“This is proof that the DSWD is always ready and available to deliver the needs of affected citizens at all times,” sinabi ni DSWD Spokesperson at Asst. Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Irene Dumlao.
