Inianunsyo ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez, sa heroes’ welcome sa Pinoy Olympians nitong Agosto 14, na palalakasin ng Kamara ang support system para sa mga Pilipinong atleta sa pamamagitan ng pagsilip at posibleng pag-amyenda sa Republic Act No. 10699 o National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.
Sa pagkilala sa mga tagumpay ng mga Pinoy Olympians, binigyang-diin ni Romualdez ang pangangailangang pahusayin ang umiiral na batas upang mas mapagsilbihan at masuportahan ang Philippine sports community.
“We will conduct a review of our legislation, among others, Republic Act No. 10699, o National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act. Kailangang amyendahan natin para maibibigay ang suporta at tulong po sa lahat ng mga atleta natin,” sabi ni Romualdez.
Inatasan na ng House leader si Isabela Rep. Faustino Michael Carlos Dy III, chairman ng House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, upang manguna sa proseso ng pagsusuri sa nasabing batas.
“Here in the House of Representatives, the House of the People, we are honored by your victory, by your achievement. You have made this all possible, and now it is our turn to ensure that you receive the support you deserve,” mensahe ni Romualdez para sa 22 Pilipinong atletang lumaban para sa Pilipinas sa katatapos na 2024 Paris Olympics.
Maaaring idagdag sa mga iminungkahing pag-amyenda sa RA 10699 ang pagtataas pa ng mga financial incentives, pag-upgrade ng training facilities, at pagpapalawak ng mga mapagkukunan para sa mga coach at mga programa sa sports.
“This review is about making sure we do everything we can to support our athletes, from their training to their competitions and beyond,” dagdag ni Romualdez.
