Handa umano ang Senado para sa pagsasagawa ng impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kung sakaling i-reverse ng Korte Suprema ang naging desisyon nito na ‘unconstitutional’ ang impeachment complaint laban sa Bise Presidente, ayon kay Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III sa ginanap na ‘Kapihan sa Manila Bay’ media forum ngayong Miyerkules, Oktubre 22.
“The Senate itself, yes. If the SC says they are reversing their decision, then we will move to reclaim the Articles of Impeachment from the archives,” saad ni Sotto.
Matatandaang noong Agosto 6, sa botong 19-4-1, in-archive ng Senado ang impeachment complaint laban sa bise presidente, matapos ideklara ng Korte Suprema na ‘unconstitutional’ ito dahil sa isyu ng “technicality.”
Samantala, nakabinbin pa rin ang inihain ng Kamara de Representantes na motion for reconsideration sa Korte Suprema para iapela ang desisyon nito sa impeachment complaint.
