Humihiling ang defense panel ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga hukom ng Pre-Trial Chamber I ng International Criminal Court (ICC) na magsagawa ng “status conference” bago o sa mismong araw ng summer recess ng korte sa Hulyo 25.
“In light of the aforementioned, the Pre-Trial Chamber is respectfully requested to convene a status conference on or before 25 July 2025 to discuss [REDACTED],” saad ng mga abogado ni Duterte.
Nakasaad sa dokumentong may petsang Hulyo 14, 2025 na isinumite ng defense panel, na ang layunin para sa hinihinging status conference ay matiyak kung ano ang “most efficient way” para magpatuloy sa mga “matters concerning [REDACTED].”
“The Pre-Trial Chamber would also assess whether, given the delays [REDACTED]… it remains feasible to maintain the current schedule for the hearing on the confirmation of charges,” mababasa sa dokumento.
Kabilang sa mga ‘delays’ na nabanggit sa dokumento ay nakamarka na “redacted”; isa na rito ang pagkalipas ng isang buwan sa hiniling ng defense sa chamber matapos itong i-request noong Abril 15 ngunit natanggap umano ng huli noong Mayo 16.
“An [REDACTED] requested more than a month ago [REDACTED] is yet to be [REDACTED],” saad pa sa dokumento.
Alinsunod sa ‘Rules of Procedure and Evidence’ ng ICC, partikular ang Rule 121(2)(b), “The Pre-Trial Chamber shall hold status conferences” upang matiyak na ang pag-disclose ng mga ebidensya ay gagawin “under satisfactory conditions.”
