Pormal na naghain si Sen. Risa Hontiveros nitong Miyerkules, Hulyo 2, ng reklamong cyber libel laban kay Michael Maurillo at 13 iba pa na diumano’y nasa likod ng paglikha at pagpapakalat ng isang viral video na nagsabing pinuwersa at binayaran ng mambabatas si Maurillo upang tumestigo laban kina Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy at dating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Personal na nagtungo si Hontiveros sa tanggapan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division upang maghain ng reklamo laban kay Maurillo at isang “Pagtanggol Valiente” na diumano’y nasa likod ng paglikha at pagpapakalat ng viral video laban sa kanya na ipinost sa YouTube at Facebook.
Mariing itinanggi ni Hontiveros ang mga alegasyon na inilahad sa “fake video.” Ayon sa senador, ito ay bahagi ng isang “orchestrated disinformation campaign” upang siraan siya at ang Senado.
Kabilang sa mga reklamong inihain ni Hontiveros ay Libel sa ilalim ng Article 355 ng Revised Penal Code, in relation to Section 4 ng Republic Act no. 10175 na mas kilala bilang “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.”
“The respondents in this case are the individuals behind the creation and management of the Youtube and Facebook account under the name “Pagtanggol Valiente” along with the author and speaker in the libelous video subject of this Complaint,” nakasaad sa dokumento na isinumite ni Hontiveros sa NBI.
Ang iba pang respondents sa reklamo ay sina dating Presidential Communications Office (PCO) secretary Trixie Cruz-Angles, vlogger at Manila Bulletin editor Krizette Chua, Rob Prances, Sass Rogando Sassot, Aeron Pena (alyas “Old School Pinoy”), Jay Sonza, Banat By, Tio Moreno, Wredel Esguerra, Jose Cruz (alyas “Jie de Vivre Every Other Day”), Ka Eric Celiz, at Atty. Ranny Randolf B. Libayan ng BATASnatin.
