Kinondena ni dating Senate president Franklin Drilon ang majority bloc ng Senado sa pagsusulong na amyendahan ang Senate rules para payagan ang mga senador na makaboto remotely sa pamamagitan ng teleconference.
“This is ugly. Bastusan na, as they say. A malicious and grave abuse of discretion I have never seen in the history of the Senate. It must be condemned,” reaksiyon ni Drilon.
“’Yun ay abuso ng kapangyarihan sa panig ng mayorya. Sa English, ang tawag natin dito ay tyranny of the majority,” sabi ni Drilon sa DZBB interview.
Kumbinsido si Drilon na ang nasabing panukala ni Sen. Rodante Marcoleta ay “directly connected” sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte—na pawang kaalyado ang miyembro ng majority bloc—at “threatens the credibility and independence” ng Senado.
“It is now connected to the impeachment trial,” sabi ni Drilon. “This amendment has very serious implications, which must be exposed and condemned.”
Nagpahayag din si Drilon ng suporta sa ginawang pagwo-walk out ng minority senators mula sa plenary session bilang pagpapakita ng matinding pagtutol sa naturang panukala.
