Sakaling maaprubahan ang House committee version ng Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, posibleng mahigit 5,000 elected officials ang matatanggal sa kanilang puwesto, ayon kay Lanao Del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong.
“The data clearly shows that the committee version (of Anti-Political Dynasty Bill) will have a significant impact on political dynasties. Projections indicate that over 5,000 elective positions could be vacated… once the measure takes effect,” saad ni Adiong.
Sa bisa ng Anti-Political Dynasty Bill o House Bill No. 8389, layunin nitong ipagbawal ang political dynasties hanggang second-degree consanguinity o affinity.
Ayon kay Adiong, batay sa assessment ng League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), tinatayang 917 mayor o 61 percent ng mga Local Executive Chiefs (LECs) sa bansa ay may kapamilya na dati na ring humawak ng posisyon sa gobyerno.
“The evidence proves that the second-degree provision strikes the right balance: it is stringent enough to open real opportunities for new leaders while remaining implementable,” giit ni Adiong.
